Jeanne
McDonald serves as the Director of Diversity for the
Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) in Dallas,
TX. In her position, she directs the development and
promotion of global diversity in alignment with
corporate goals and strategies.
McDonald earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from
Southern Illinois University. She joined the AAFES team
at Scott Air Force Base in 1982, and has held a variety
of positions in marketing, advertising, sales promotion,
catalog/e-commerce and corporate communications
throughout her career.
McDonald has been fortunate to serve AAFES in two
separate overseas tours, for a total of 7 years. Prior
to McDonald’s most recent HQ assignment, she served in
the AAFES Europe footprint where she told the AAFES
story of serving troops in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)
and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).
In her diversity role, McDonald serves on the
Advisory Council for the US Pan Asian American Chamber
of Commerce Southwest, Chairs the Communication
Leadership of the Dallas Ft Worth Supplier Development
Professionals Group and is a diversity professional
member of the National Retail Federation (NRF) Diversity
Council and the NMSDC Working Group. In addition she
serves on the Local Federal Campaign Committee (LFCC)
and chairs the campaign’s marketing initiative.

Carlyn
Houston serves as Workforce Diversity Manager at the
Army and Air Force Exchange Service. In her position,
Houston provides leadership, guidance and direction to
the Workforce Affinity Groups, establishes the Diversity
Curriculum for worldwide implementation, and promotes
the recruitment and development of an inclusive
workforce.
Houston began her career with AAFES in 1975 in the
Sales Directorate and was later promoted to Human
Resources. Her professional experience includes
performance management, leadership, management,
education, curriculum design and program development,
career consulting, wellness education, mentoring,
instructor, keynote conference speaker and workshop
leader, and Diversity training.
Prior to her recent assignment, Houston was a
Designer Instructor at AAFES Corporate University, where
she successfully designed and implemented the Leadership
and Management Curriculum, Onsite Education Programs,
and the Wellness Education Program for the global
workforce.
She has authored numerous training programs to
include, The Performance Management Game…Coaching to
Win; The Goal Setting Workshop; Basic Business
Presentations; FOCUS, Career and Education Planning
Workbook for AAFES Associates; and the AAFES Wellness
Education Program Workbook. She is contributing author
to Improving Employee Performance through Appraisal and
Coaching, by Donald L. Kirkpatrick and a contributor to
Organizing for Success, by Kenneth Zeigler.
Houston is a member of the American Society of
Training and Development and has received the ASTD Human
Performance Improvement Certification. Carlyn is
actively involved in her church and community outreach
and is a licensed minister.

Deborah
Horton serves as Supplier Diversity Manager at the
Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). Ms. Horton
initially worked for AAFES as a summer-hire student in
Munich, Germany. She returned to AAFES in 2000 after
thirteen years of employment in the managed healthcare
environment.
Ms. Horton received her Bachelor of Business
Administration degree from Northwood University of
Michigan. Ms. Horton was born in Dallas, Texas and spent
her primary educational years in Honolulu, Hawaii and
graduated from high school in Munich, Germany.
Throughout her AAFES career, Ms. Horton has worked in
Supply Chain Management positions. Ms. Horton has spent
the past five years as a Business Analyst for
Contingency Operations and Sales. She also served at the
Waco Distribution Center as the Shipping Manager for
Cross-Dock and Transship areas. She has held
administrative positions with the Senior VP of Sales and
the Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Horton has experience
outside of AAFES in the medical environment and
community service activities.
Throughout Ms. Horton’s career, she has served
employer groups and the community. She was a Loaned
Executive for the United Way, American Red Cross
Coordinator, and member of the Managed Healthcare
Association of DFW. She was also a Prison Ministry
Counselor at Gatesville Women’s Prison.
Ms. Horton is responsible for increasing corporate
spending with minority, women, and veteran owned
companies working with AAFES as well as increasing
community outreach. Current affiliations include local
Chambers of Commerce, DFW MBC Supplier Professionals
Committee, Women’s Business Council Southwest and NMSDC.
