AAFES RECALL  NO. 04-029
RELEASE DATE:
13 October 2004
SUBJECT: HAZARDOUS RECALL -  BF Goodrich passenger and light truck tires

DISTRIBUTION: CONUS

AAFES has been notified that BF Goodrich is recalling 46,000 passenger and light truck tires . The recall was initiated after a small quantity of tires were returned for poor ride qualities. The condition could possibly develop in to steel belt separation.

To date, there have been no accidents or injures reported and no property damage claims filed.  However, a potential safety hazard exists.

The recalled tires have Department of Transportation (DOT) tire identification numbers which begin with DOT BF and end with the last four digits 1504 or 1604.  (15th and 16th week of 2004, roughly mid-April)  The DOT codes are found on the inner or outer sidewall of the tire just above the wheel rim and are printed in small type (less than half an inch tall). There are no issues with tires manufactured outside of these DOT weeks.
