AAFES RECALL  NO. 06-022 RELEASE DATE: 24 June 2006 SUBJECT: NON-HAZARDOUS RECALL - Pacific Cycles: Various Inline Self Shifting Bicycles for replacing gear shifters

DISTRIBUTION: WORLDWIDE Pacific Cycle of CA is voluntarily recalling inline self shifting bicycles with a lot coded of FSD03JF. Some bicycles with the TB-One Grip style (left front grip) were inadvertently shipped shifters with weak retention springs that allows the shifter to index to a smaller gear while riding or turning the handle bar of the bicycle. The model number is located on a service sticker and can be found either on the outside of the carton (on silver sticker) or on the bicycle, near the bottom bracket shell by the left pedal arm. INSTRUCTIONS FOR CUSTOMERS: The customers should bring their bicycles to AAFES stores for repair and replacement INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE STORES: All on-hand quantities of the affected bicycles should be put on hold and replacement shifters should be ordered from Pacific Bicycle. Additional shifters should be ordered for anticipated customer returns. Pacific Cycle will reimburse stores for every repair.
