SUBJECT: NON-HAZARDOUS RECALL -Various Suppliers are announcing a voluntary market withdrawal of oral OTC “INFANT ONLY” Cough and Cold medicines.
Scope: WorldwideISSUE: The makers of infant cough and cold products are acting together to take this precautionary measure to avoid potential misuse of these products, including unintentional overdose, in infants less than two years old.
The data shows that these medicines are safe when used correctly; however, a recent assessment identified rare patterns of misuse leading to overdose, particularly in infants less than two years of age. Because of this potential for misuse in this age group, a decision was made to voluntarily withdraw cough and cold medicines that refer to “INFANTS.”
This withdrawal affects a variety of SKUs however, AAFES only carried the following 2 items in the past and they are not currently in the stock assortment.
Product Description Item UPC PEDIACARE® Infant Drops Decongestant 300097714010 PEDIACARE® Infant Drops Decongestant & Cough 300097716017 STORE ACTION: The aforementioned products should not be on your shelves or in your stockroom. As a precaution please check your inventory and identify, isolate and remove the above listed items from the point of sale. Contact your local S & K Sales representative for disposition and store credit.
CONSUMER REMEDY: Consumers should immediately stop administering the aforementioned products to children and return the unused portion of the product to your local PX/BX for a full refund.
