Colonel Thomas M. Baker
Chief of Staff

Colonel Thomas M. Baker was born in Taipei, Taiwan and is the son of a SGM (ret) Archie and Glendene Baker.  He graduated from the University of Arkansas in May of 1981 as a distinguished Military Graduate with a BSBA in Transportation and Marketing.  He received a Regular Army Commission in the Transportation Corps.  His professional military education includes the Transportation Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Command and General Staff College, Armed Forces Services College and Naval War College.

Colonel Baker has held a wide variety of command, staff and logistic positions.  He served as the Chief Of Staff of the 32nd AAMDC.  His last assignment was the G-4 OIC of the 32nd AAMDC.  He commanded the 7th Transportation Group, the 28th Transportation Battalion in Mannheim, Germany and the Port of Rijeka, Croatia in support of SFOR operations.  He served as a Logistics Operations Officer for Allied Forces Central Europe, NATO, in Brunssum, the Netherlands.  During his tenure with NATO, he deployed for three tours to the Former Yugoslavia where he served as the Headquarters Commandant for the IFOR/SFOR Support Command.  Prior to this service with NATO, he was the Battalion Executive Officer for the 10th Transportation Battalion at Fort Eustis and was the Battalion S2/3 for the 561st Corps Support Battalion at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  During Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti, Colonel Baker was the Port Commander of the Northern Port, Cape Haitian.  During Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Colonel Baker was an embarkation instructor for the Marines in San Diego, California.  At Fort Eustis, Virginia he was Commander of the 1098th Transportation Company (Medium Boat “Seadogs”) and the Installation Training Officer.  Colonel Baker’s First assignment was in Panama where he was a 1097th “Waterborne” Company Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Chief of the Pacific Transportation Motor Pool.

His awards and decorations include a Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leafs clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leafs clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with oak leaf cluster, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three service stars, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon fifth award, NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA), Kuwait Liberation Medal (K), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Parachute Badge, Air Assault Badge and Scuba Diver Badge.
