Cross Dock

What is Cross Dock?

The Exchange cross dock takes individual store orders and combines them into purchase orders that are shipped to Exchange warehouses. The preferred process, called XD2, changes the PO format adding SDQs (destination quantity), which then change the ASN (advanced ship notice) and the UCC128 labels. Cross dock orders are generated mechanically; there are no back orders, no late shipments, and no substitutions. There are no minimum order quantities for participating facilities. Suppliers with a 90% or better fill rate and an ASN accuracy rate of 99.5% or better by line are encouraged to participate.

TMS - Transportation Management System

What is TMS?

The Exchange Logistics Transportation Management System (TMS) efficiently manages carriers, shipping schedules, and routing, via either EDI (204/990, 753/754) documents or the AAFES website Exchange Partners Online (EPOL). The Exchange TMS combines loads, by ship date and location, so small shipments are consolidated to larger, cheaper, or more direct routes. Suppliers benefit with instruction for each shipment, flexible production scheduling, reduced outbound loads, and competitive advantage for delivered cost of goods.
