School Meal Program Debt Policy
AAFES agrees with and has adopted DoDEA’s policy that no student will be denied a school meal. Parents are responsible for the cost of meals consumed by their students and are informed of this responsibility when registering their students with DoDEA. A la carte purchases are not allowed on credit; students must have cash or enough funds on their school meal account to cover a la carte purchases. AAFES believes parents should have the right to manage their student meal accounts and therefore have the ability to place purchasing restrictions on their own students accounts if desired; they may do so by contacting the school cafeteria foreman or by placing account restrictions through Linqconnect.com. Linq Connect instructions for setting purchase limits can be found under step number 7 here: https://linqhelp.mcoutput.com/linqconnect/Content/Meal%20Account%20Screen.htm
AAFES will notify parents of their student’s negative balances by email throughout the school year. Parents can also set up automatic low balance alerts on Linq Connect. At the end of each school year, all accounts with balances owing more than $30.00 will be turned over for collections during the summer months. Once accounts are turned over, they cannot be paid through the School Meal Program cafeteria, Exchange Customer Service nor through Linq Connect. Positive account balances as well as balances owing less than $30 will be carried through to the following school year.
