Scholarships

The AREA scholarship program is a long-standing AREA activity. We've provided scholarships to the children of The Exchange employees for many years, having contributed over $900,000 since inception in 1985 to further the education of nearly 400 high school graduating students. The amount of the fund continues to grow each year, and we awarded 12 scholarships in 2021 for $40,000.

Emergency Relief Fund

One of our newer AREA activities, the Emergency Relief Fund, was created in cooperation with The Exchange HQ to assist The Exchange associates and their families whose homes and property are devastated by disasters such as wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, snow and ice storms and floods.

Each calendar quarter, we recognize people who are making unselfish efforts towards the betterment of their communities with an AREA Community Service Award.

Publications

Each month a newsletter is forwarded by email featuring the latest retiree news: AREA and chapter happenings; what we’re doing to protect your retirement benefit; news from The Exchange, Congress, DoD and other government programs; the latest from our benefit providers and a health and benefits section in which The Exchange provides up-to-day information about insurance, retirement benefits and 40l (k) programs.
